hey so beck announced a second show for the next night. I'm considering going to both, and vicki's considering only going to the second one. which means I may have an extra ticket to thursday night's show. anyone interested? I got tickets for the upstairs, which is means seats.

HELL YES!

well, i guess technically i've been to a few in the last 7 years:

LA Philharmonic in the new disney amphetheatre 2 years ago.
Been to the Hollywood Bowl for the LA Philharmonic/Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Mark, and another classical concert or two there as well. even saw LCJO in sevilla spain with mark- that was 1998.

all throughout i've seen small local bands and performers at bars/clubs/events like that LA Fashion show with Prom Kings. that was great because of the hot naked girls.

but besides that? crap, i can't remember. may have been jewel at RPI in 1997. yes, that's right- jewel. hahaha, shut up.

tonight, Beck broke joel's concert hymen like bubby, jewel, the prom kings and wynton marsalis never could. it was a great show.

unfortunately we didn't enjoy it as much as we should have, because of some assholery on behalf of the hammerschmid ballroom security force. but yeah. beck puts on a great show. hot, hot shit!

after my initial doubt in the mid 90's with "I'm a Loser", beck has hung out in my top 10 favorite music performers. after last night, basterd is easily top 5 if not top 3.

what a fucking awesome show sans security bs. hell, even that crazy-ass opening act (act, not band) was cool.

steve, i forget his name. you have the info?

it was a crazy guy- a one-man-band of electronic music doing covers of "rappers delight", "fight for your right", and others. but it wasn't just a key board- this guy had a body suit with sensors all over (complete with kilt) that triggered the sounds he needed. man, i wish we had a picture.

beck sure can't get enough of guero remixes. "Guerolito" remix album is coming soon. a bunch of these were on the guero special edition. but I'm quite interested in hearing 5 & 6...

Image
I asked Beck what would be on his remix album, and he wrote:
1. Homelife - E-Pro
2. Islands - Que Onda Guero
3. Octet - Girl
4. Air - Missing
5. Ad-Rock - Black Tambourine
6. Mario C - Earthquake Weather
7. 8-Bit - Hell Yes
8. Boards of Canada - Broken Drum
9. El-P - Scarecrow
10. Superthriller - Go It Alone
11. Subtle - Farewell Ride
12. John King - Rental Car
13. Th' Corn Gangg - Emergency Exit
14. Clap Hands

Beck will be performing in support of the new album, The Information, at New York’s Theater at Madison Square Garden on October 18th.

Tickets go onsale tomorrow at 4pm ET. Get them here, and at all Ticketmaster outlets, or charge by phone at 212-307-7171.

This will probably sell out in a few minutes, but I'm gonna try. how many should I try for?
